Dance Mosaic

Yesterday's post featured a 3-D octopus mosaic which hangs on the huge wall surrounding King Abdulaziz Univerity, Girls College.  Today's post is another of those mosaics, created by students years ago.  I like the colors and movement of this mosaic.  I was also intrigued and surprised by the thought that dancing in Saudi Arabia isn't exactly considered proper, yet a young student chose it as her theme for her project.

Very nicely done mosaic. I wonder how old the artist was and what her inspiration was (if this was the US I wouldn't even ask the question). It is reminiscent of some Matisse paper cutouts.

Jerry - These mosaics are on the outer wall of KAU, Girl's College - so I'm guessing the ages of the artists to be around 19-22. I don't really have any specific info though. The campus is surrounded buy a huge wall which runs for several blocks. I walked along one day snapping photos of them all.

Google Matisse Jazz and you will see where these images seem to come from. (I may be wrong but I don't think so.)
