SkyWatch: Jeddah Bank Aljazira

Well known for news in Saudi Arabia as well as the rest of the world , the Aljazira name also boasts a variety of businesses in other fields, like banking, paints, sports, and real estate.  I love the curvy blue glass facade of this modern bank building in Jeddah.  The enormous picture of the Saudi king pays respect to his royal highness.

I like the curvature of this building.

I do too, William - it's one of my favorite buildings in the city - graceful, classy, and simple.

Aljazeera newspaper has interesting articles that we wouldn't see anywhere else.
Nice to see in your post that the name is not only for the news.
The building is beautiful. Good to see a national leader who gets some respect. Honor/respect is such a big thing in the Middle East.

Hi Dina - Al Jazeera is the name of many businesses here in the kingdom. There is also a huge paint chain that bears the name as well as other businesses. Good to hear from you!

Thanks Susie. You got me curious, so I finally looked it up. Wikipedia says "Al Jazeera (Arabic: الجزيرة‎‎ al-ǧazīrah IPA: [æl dʒæˈziːrɐ], literally "The Island," though referring to the Arabian Peninsula in context) ..."

Thanks, Dina - I didn't know that!
