Our World: Crystal Bras

For such an uptight and sexually repressed society where women must cover up like nuns when out in public, I am always surprised and amazed at the variety of unexpected goods and products available here in Saudi Arabia.

Be sure to visit OUR WORLD TUESDAY, where family-friendly bloggers share a unique glimpse into what life is like all around our ever-amazing planet.

  4. I remember seeing those in Morocco, along with ubiquitous sort of goods. It was a odd that a man sold them. The division between private and public world that we don't have as much here is more marked there except at the market.

    1. Hi Pearl - It wasn't long ago that ALL sales clerks in Saudi Arabia were men only. Women organized to protest the fact that in a strictly religious and gender-segregated country like this, they were forced into the humiliating and non-sensical position of having to purchase their undergarments and lingerie from strange men. Today women are in sales positions everywhere!!!

  7. Hi Susie of Arabia,

My name is Asma and I am Saudi woman from Jeddah but currently I am studying in the U.S.
First of all, I really like your blog. You have visited many places I have never been to hhhh...

It is really nice when you live in my country and I live in yours. Maybe we could share our experience and compare between them.

I just wanted to say that we don't have to wear them in public. However, we wear all kind of clothes in front of our family and friends.
When a woman shows her body to stranger men, then she allows them to look at her like a cheap woman that every one could reach her. Not all men in the world think like this but Arabic man, especially Saudi does.

Believe me, you will be amazed if you have Saudi female friends because you will see how stylish, elegant, classy and chic they are.

    sincerely..

    Asma

    1. Hi Asma - Thanks for your comment. I've been to many female only events and gatherings here in Jeddah, and I've seen some pretty wild outfits on women, but nothing like this. I know this type of thing might be for a wife to wear just in front of her husband. I do have some Saudi friends and have met lots of Saudi women.
