This is a scene at the huge open air fruit and vegetable market in Jeddah. Cars are not allowed inside the numerous wide aisles which are filled with vendors, shoppers, and flatbeds. I find this place amazing, although I prefer going during the cooler winter months.

So much colour and exotica! Looks like a wonderful place to explore ... but happy to take your advice about saving it for winter!
ReplyDeleteHi Red Nomad Oz - The produce tends to get more pungent in the warmer months too ...
Deletewhat a great place to do your shopping....love all the bright colors!
ReplyDeleteHi Tanya - It's really fun to go there. My husband loves to bargain with the vendors. It's unbelievably cheap compared to the prices in the states.
DeleteYour souk looks so orderly. It's nice to see the different people in action.
ReplyDeleteHi Dina - I love seeing the huge bunches of herbs stacked so neatly. It's pretty!

ReplyDeleteI can just about smell it! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteIt's odd to see a man dressed in black. It almost looks like a priest's cassock.
ReplyDeleteHi Jerry - During the cooler months here, men are more likely to wear darker colors and even wool thobes.
DeleteGreat capture, colorful and very original. The place looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteThis is fascinating to me as I can't imagine where they would grow vegetables. I think Saudi Arabia and all I can think is "desert."
