I know that this house is more a showplace than a practical house, but I find some of the choices odd. The way the table is set in a depression. I can imagine banging my toe all over this house if were barefooted or wearing sandals (as Saudis do). I don't want to give the impression that I dislike the house, I like it a lot. It shows how well standard Arabic decorative forms can work.
Hi Jerry - On the occasions that I have visited Angawi House, I can't recall ever having seen people using this area. You are very right about pointing out the impracticality of the flooring in this room. If my home flooring were like this, I would be falling, tripping, and hurting myself constantly!
