In addition to the popular coffee chains of Starbucks and Barnie's, Jeddah is also home to Seattle's Best Coffee. Coffee is just as popular here as it is around the world. Arabic coffee, called gahwa, is mostly cardomom with just a tad of actual coffee in it. It is served in extremely tiny little cups. Gahwa is traditionally offered to guests shortly after arrival, along with sweets or dates.
Good composition in this shot... though I do wonder with the full headdress how a woman drinks coffee.
ReplyDeleteYou lift ant the bottom edge with the back of your hand or hold the niqab with the thumb and index or between the index and the middle. Same goes for food. Beverages drunk with a straw would obviously be easiest. With bottled beverages you can lay the niqab on top. its only complicated or a novice or if you didn't think ahead of time about how you would easily eat/drink in what you are wearing. For example if the niqab is extra long and of a thin material it may be difficult to eat in compared to a short one with stiffer material. The advantage of being in Saudi is there are restaurants with special sections reserved for women and families. These areas often have boots that are screened off so a woman can lift the niqab fully and eat a whole meal without having to lift. Irregardless of the situation though you make it work if you are dedicated. I never let my niqab get in the way of date-night with my hubby :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for helping me out with the explanation. I don't wear niqab and haven't any experience with it.
