Jeddah is a pretty dusty place, due to not much vegetation, construction, and sandstorms. The Mameluke Lanterns sculpture is still recognizable despite bad visibility during a sandstorm, although the beautiful stained glass detailing is not evident.

How fascinating! Is it hard to beath in such a sandstorm?
ReplyDeleteI wondered what they were at first but clicking back to your previous photos shows them in a completely different light. They are amazing and now I understand how they could still be seen on such a dusty day.
