"I LOVE TO LEAVE PIECES OF THEM MISSING BECAUSE IT HAS TO DO WITH THE CONCEPT THAT WE ARE NOT COMPLETE," SAID THE ARTIST.
I HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN TOLD THE REASON WAS BASED ON RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AGAINST IDOLATRY WORSHIP.
I'VE ALWAYS CALLED THIS SCULPTURE "HUNGRY HORSES."

At first glance, the missing sections did not surprise me, as I am familiar (my religion has something similar) with the prohibition of idolatry, so a little surprised that wasn't the primary reason a human rider wasn't shown.
