Great picture. But i guess the sword is a more significant symbol in Saudi culture than in Islam. Some muslim countries like say Afghanistan or Indonesia wont display swords. But you see the sword in the Saudi flag.

Other than the sword being, at that point in history, a global weapon used in battle, it has no other significance in Islam. A big lie Susie has told is of the importance of using the sword to spread Islam.
In response to this nonsense, A. S. Tritton states "The picture of the Muslim soldier advancing with a sword in one hand and the Qur'an in the other is quite false."
Also, De Lacy O'Leary states "History makes it clear, however, that the legend of fanatical Muslims sweeping through the world and forcing Islam at the point of sword upon conquered races is one of the most fantastically absurd myths that historians have ever repeated."
Please publish a clarification of this nonsense on your blog.
I'm not interested in getting into a discussion about this with you. My original statement was "The sword plays a significant part in the religion of Islam." This sword sculpture is a prominent and well known piece of art here in Jeddah. There are scimitars for sale everywhere here. The sword plays an prominent part in Saudi Arabia's history and Islam as well. Enough said.
