Our World: Goats in a Truck

The Hajj holidays have just concluded - Hajj is the religious pilgrimage which requires Muslims around the world to travel to Mecca at least once in their lifetime if they are able.  It is customary to sacrifice an animal such as a goat, sheep, or camel to share with family, friends and the needy at the conclusion of Hajj.

Sorry, I just realized this post should be called "Sheep in a Truck!"  I have a hard time telling the difference sometimes...

What a picture. I always wonder why they don't jump out and run for their life.

Camels too?? I didn't know they were also on the list.

Hi Dina - You can't see it in the photo, but each animal was tied to the truck with rope. This is a very common sight around here, especially during the holidays. Oh, and cows are on the list too!

Hi Jerry - I guess I made a mistake and these are actually sheep. My bad!

I wouldn't know the difference from the backside.

OK, thanks; that makes more sense. Still, they do a good balancing act in a moving truck.

I think it's the fur that got me. I'm more used to seeing curly haired sheep!
