Jeddah Gypsum Details

Gypsum is commonly ussed here in Saudi Arabia to decorate walls and ceilings.  Frequently it is painted, often in gold leaf.  Saudi taste in decor tends to run more on the formal side.  I've often heard the term "Saudi Gaudy" to describe typical fancy Saudi design elements, from furniture to window coverings and everything in between.  I noticed this gypsum embellishing in a local hotel.

It’s not my taste but I appreciate the cultural styling! Great glimpse of your world there.

Saudi Goudy, well that's a wee bit harsh Susie 😀 I quite like the cream with gold details, it can look tres elegant ✨

I like it. Of course I'm sure it can get over-done but just this sample is nice.

The first time I heard the term "Saudi Gaudy" I was shocked - but I have heard it so many times since then. It may sound harsh, but it's actually an appropriate description for much of the preferred styling here. I've even heard Saudis use the term! LOL
