Many of the doors in Jeddah's Al Balad area are carved out of wood. Some are painted, some are in need of paint, and others are left in a bare wood finish. Many of the simple latches are also made of wood.
Hi Kanumommy - I'm guessing the flowers represented on the door are generic resembling vincas or daisies. Vincas do grow here but I can't recall seeing daisies.

Beautifully carved, but you would think it would need a coat of something to protect it from the elements?
Hi PerthDP - Many of these old doors appear to have no finish at all on them. The heat and dust must take its toll after all these years.
