A cheerful, friendly and helpful clerk in a wonderful shop in Jeddah that sells coffee and dates, among other things. I took dates from this shop back to the US with me as gifts, and everyone was wild for them - they were absolutely delicious. There is a much wider variety of scrumptious dates here in the kingdom than can be found in the US.

Oh wow, I bet they would be good in some sticky toffee pudding! Or, wrapped in bacon for an appetizer. I'm thinking of all kinds of good things to make with dates.
I have never had a date.
Shopping for coffee and dates - sounds fun and yummy! Got samples?

I've found that the date selection in the US is minimal. It's surprising now to me because there are so many types to choose from here - from almost hard as a rock to ultra gooey and everything in between.
William - It's time you tried some dates!!!
Sharon - I've had them in many desserts here or just by themselves. They are always served to guests with coffee or tea here.
Leif - I'll have to figure out a way to get you some samples...!
