MY NEPHEW CORY ON HIS WEDDING DAY
This past week I lost my nephew Cory to Covid-19. He was a healthy, happy 39 year old before he contracted the deadly virus in late December. Cory was born to perform and always loved making people laugh. He was so full of life and he was larger than life.
Cory was always the center of attention - people were just drawn to him. He was intelligent, kind, talented, and hilarious. Cory entertained thousands over the years at Old Tucson as an actor, stuntman, and script writer. Audience members always sought him out after the show to get a photo with him. There was a special magic and charisma about him.
His death didn't have to happen. Cory lived with his wife and his mom, who was infected with Covid by a stupid asymptomatic co-worker who refused to wear a mask. Cory's mom unknowingly brought the virus home. All three of them became sick. The women didn't require hospitalization and recovered. However Cory, who kept testing negative for the virus, continued to get sicker and sicker. He was near death when he was rushed to the hospital on January 10th. He was immediately put on a ventilator in the ICU. A little over two weeks later, he was dead.
Our family is shattered, heartbroken, devastated, crushed. We've lost our smiling happy boy Cory.

Oh Susie,
My deepest sympathy for the loss of your dear nephew. The world has lost a shining star.
...what a sad lost Susie.
Susie, this is a loving memorial to your nephew. From the photos you have shared, it is obvious Cory brought smiles to many during in short life.
That's very sad, Susie. It's so cruel to hear what this disease has done to families.
Oh Susie my heart is breaking for yourself and family. You nephew was one in a million and I can tell he will leave a huge gap in the many lives he touched. Please know I am thinking of you and sending heartfelt hugs from the other side of the world. We just heard this afternoon that for the first time in 10 months we are now in lockdown for five days and for the first time ever we must wear masks outside. We will definitely be doing so, as you say if only everyone would. I know you will all take care of each other through this terrible time, that's what families do 💙
Oh Susie, I am so sorry to hear this news. You have created a very beautiful and loving memorial. I can tell from his smile that he brought joy wherever he went.
... what sad news, Susie, he was a sunny smiling guy.
I'm so sorry for your loss, he was so young and will be greatly missed. My condolences to you and the family.
I am very sorry.
There are tears in my eyes and my heart is breaking for you all. This virus seems so unfair, it is cruel what it is doing to families around the world. Cory looked like such a great guy, I can see how you will all miss him. Sending you lots of love and hugz, Mxxx
Your post brought tears for your loss and fury for the continued senselessness of people who are too selfish to wear a mask! I am so very sorry for you, for his mom and for his wife. . .and for all those who knew and will miss that warm, wonderful smile.
Thank you all so much for your words of comfort and consolation.
Oh Susie... that's a sad, sad post. Sorry for you and your family. I have tears in my eyes, lost at least a well known friend in Rochester on this terrible pandemy. I'm speechless...
Dear Susie, you brought your nephew to life with your words. Cheers to Cory!
I'm so sorry for your loss :(
Susie - there are no words that could possibly atone for what has happened to Cory. It must have been difficult for you to write this post, or perhaps it was healing. Either way, I am sure it will serve as a helpful reminder to everyone that we can only conquer this and prevent more needless deaths if we do it together. Thanks for sharing this with everyone at Mosaic Monday.
What a shocking loss for your family and for his soul mate wife. Your words and photos show how he spread joy to many people.
Your photos of him are so full of life and laughter. I know this is such a hard loss - so sorry.
My heart felt condolences to you and the family.
