Jeddah Sidewalk Prayer Time

This is what it looks like during prayer time in a busy shopping area of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, called Makarona. Carpets are provided for women to pray on the sidewalks outside the closed shops.

And quite a number of those each day.

So are all those cars stopped for prayer time? It's hard to tell... maybe they are because I don't see any tail lights shining. So all the traffic just stops? This is interesting. I never thought about traffic and time for prayer before.

Judith - No, traffic does not come to a stop during prayer times, but I have seen cars double and triple parked outside mosques at prayer times which can make driving through streets near a mosque quite difficult. Most of the cars that are visible in the pic are parked.
