Jeddah: Mosaic Beach Path

Here is another walkway that leads to a beautiful beach in northern Jeddah.  I love the mosaic tile and the variety of colors.

One of the things I find most fascinating about Saudi Arabia is the beautifully designed structures, including the mosaic walkways. This is something that the U.S. doesn't care much about so you don't see things like this very often even in parks. In my own landscape, however, I have started making mosaic walkways and patios. They may be a little time consuming but they are wonderful when they are done. The Daisy mosaic path is the walkway that first inspired me which you can view here: https://www.builddirect.com/blog/cool-garden-paths-that-are-off-the-beaten-path/

I used to live over there for a few years from 1959 to 1965, in Dhahran, Abqaiq, and Ras Tanura and Al Khobar and I gotta tell ya looking at the art and the architecture of what they are doing where you are now, amazingly even to me, I have to say I find what you can see these days in Mexico to be much more interesting. I did not used to feel this way. Arabia=boring now.

Hi Craig - Skilled laborers here in KSA are quite often hired with no skills. Workmanship is shoddy and finishing details are left unfinished. It's a huge problem. They don't even seal around doors or windows...
