The two sculptures featured in this post are the work of Arnaldo Pomodoro, an Italian sculptor. Above is the work entitled "Rotating First Section No. 3" or "Circular Mass." Pomodoro used negative space to create voids in his geometric forms, giving his pieces interest and detail.
"Cube IV" is the name of the sculpture below in which Pomodoro again uses negative space in the design. Now 91 years old, Pomodoro still works and currently lives in Milan, Italy. An interesting tidbit is that his brother Gio was also a sculptor and some of his work is owned by the city of Jeddah as well.
These two works by Pomodoro are also now relocated in the beautiful grounds of the Middle Corniche Sculpture Park, after being cleaned and refinished a few years ago.
