Jeddah Covid-19 Business Restrictions

A new wave of Covid-19 restrictions has been implemented for businesses here in Saudi Arabia.  Restaurants may only provide take out food to customers now, so it was interesting to see how the normal seating areas of these mall restaurants have dealt with the new rules.  The above photos shows how the tables have been rearranged to block off entry and all the chairs have been removed.

This restaurant has removed all tables and chairs altogether and has blocked entry into the normal seating area.

This restaurant too has removed all normal seating and takes orders at the entrance.  I saw photos taken at another mall recently with all seating gone at the food court.  I was shocked, however, to see that customers actually got their food and sat on the floor there to eat it, totally defeating the whole purpose of these new health regulations.

It sure looks lonely there, as I'm sure it does in many other places. I'm beginning to think that hoping it will 'run its course' is the only way many businesses will survive, but I don't even know if that's an option.
