Sidewalks are supposed to be for pedestrians, but this sidewalk in Jeddah is being used to store vehicles long term. Parking is a big problem in many areas of the city, but seeing this strikes me as ridiculous, in my opinion - especially if the sidewalk belongs to the city. I just don't understand people doing things like this...

Does the city not have a bylaw enforcement team? If that were to happen here, the bylaw inspectors would have them towed.
I imagine the coverings are a measure against sand.
People are nuts. And there is almost no sense of "community," or the feeling that we're all in this together and that what we do to other people is likely to come around so that the same thing is done to us.
