Like other animals, camels develop a thick warm winter coat for the colder months. When the weather warms up, they shed the excess fur, oftentimes in chunky clumps. The last to go is usually atop its hump.
Many camels have scars on their bodies and legs from running into barbed wire, which is used to corral the animals.

They do impress me.
The camels look comical with their tufts of fur. They must be hurt with the barbed wire though.
Number 5 has a bit of a mohawk on his hump.
Amazing animals. I remember reading how the US Army tried them out in the desert southwest in the 19th century. They worked out well but the Civil War happened and the Army sold them at auction (I cheated, read it on wikipedia just now)
