The souks sell a lot of knock-offs from famous brands and designers at deeply discounted prices.  

Shopping at the Souk

The souk offers all sorts of things to buy - like clothing for men, women, and children.  Shown in the first photo are house dresses commonly worn by women at home here. 

You can also find all kinds of accessories, like shoes, purses, and jewelry, and hats, underwear, and jackets.

Surprises at the Souk

I was surprised to see a small pet shop and a guy set up outside the shop with cages containing rabbits, baby chicks, and hens - right in the middle of the aisle.

Shopping for Veils at the Souk

While most Saudi women who wear the face veil called "niqab" usually wear black,  they do come in a variety of colors.  I once ran into a friend of mine who was wearing all pink - a pink face veil, a matching pink head scarf, and a totally pink abaya.  She had to whisper her name to me because I wouldn't have recognized her otherwise!
