ROADSIDE TEA VENDOR

Roadside vendors in remote areas selling tea and fresh roasted corn is very common here in Saudi Arabia.  It's a nice way to take a break from traveling and stretch one's legs.

The photos in today's post were taken by my friend Mariette Raubenheimer on a recent trip she took to Taif, Saudi Arabia.  Thanks to Mariette for allowing me to share them with you.

Saudi Arabia: Taif View

An aerial view of the mountain city of Taif taken from the revolving restaurant atop the Awaliv Hotel.  The restaurant offers a lovely All-You-Can-Eat Buffet.

This is another shot take from the revolving restaurant on top of the Awaliv Hotel in the farming community of Taif, Saudi Arabia.

Families of baboons inhabit the hills and mountains near Taif, Saudi Arabia. 

 

The baboons are quite a local attraction and are fed fruits and vegetables by the tourists.

This shot was taken from the revolving restaurant atop the Awaliv Hotel in Taif, Saudi Arabia.  The restaurant makes a full rotation in just under one hour.  The buffet lunch is expensive but good, and the views are spectacular.

Winding its way along the curves of huge mountains, the road from Jeddah to Taif makes for an interesting trip, as far as terrain goes.

Saudi Arabia: Flowers in Taif

Taif, Saudi Arabia, is just a short drive from the seaport metropolis of Jeddah.  Taif is located in a mountainous largely agricultural region of the country.  It's nice to see more vegetation here, as the colorful flowers confirm. The city is also well know for its roses and produces world famous rose water.

Taif, Saudi Arabia, is home to native baboons.  They are generally well fed by the tourists.

This roadside tea stand was quite popular and offered a few different types of tea, made fresh on the spot.

This photo was taken from a picturesque scenic point on the outskirts of Taif.  The winding mountainous road curves and climbs for many miles.

Saudi Arabia: Taif Cable Cars

The cable cars of Taif transport guests from the Ramada Hotel to a water park.  The attraction takes people over the rugged mountainous scenery of the area.
