Jeddah Market Souvenirs

Jeddah - Lulu Department Store

I love this pic of a couple of smiling Lulu's employees standing in front of the "Customer Happiness Center."  Below are some photos of just some of the items available at the department store.  

These are prayer rugs with built in compasses so the user can figure out which direction to face for prayer, toward Mecca. 

Lulu's has a huge toy department with great selections for both boys and girls.  I even found some Fulla dolls wearing abaya and hijab!  Lulu also offers their own reusable shopping bags for purchase - plastic bags are a huge problem here in Saudi Arabia...

Jeddah Toy Store

This Jeddah toy store recently got a new look, with eye catching bright colored blocks across the front exterior of the building.  It's logo above the door mimics the well known Toys R Us logo.

Saudi Arabia: Modesty

Fulla dolls are modestly dressed fashion dolls and are very popular with young Saudi girls.  Many Fulla dolls are sold wearing the traditional Saudi black outer cloak that women wear called abayas. 

Sold on the shelf right next to the Fulla dolls were the above rather immodestly dressed dolls.  The doll on the right has her chest exposed because her top is not pulled up where it should be. 

Fun Toy

I saw this Lego knock-off toy and got a chuckle out of the wording on the box:  "New Funny of Intelligent Blocks."
