The Fierce Red Sea

This photo was taken a few months ago back in February when the winds were strong, causing the Red Sea waves to splash up onto the walkway along the coast.  I love the droplets and the brilliant blue of the water.  

Jeddah Waterfront Park

Jeddah's Waterfront Park runs along the Red Sea coastline for 4.5 km. It opened in November 2017 and is one of Jeddah's most popular attractions. There is something for everyone there.

Jeddah's Waterfront is one of the most popular areas of the city, attracting thousands on the weekends to enjoy being outdoors, the refreshing sea breezes, and the beauty of its natural surroundings.

The photography opportunities are endless, plus there is an ever growing abundance of restaurants to choose from if one is hungry.

At the Waterfront, there is a sense of serenity, calm and peace that washes over the soul with the gentle waves of the Red Sea.

Jeddah Fountain on the Red Sea

I don't have any information about the artist who designed this lovely modern fountain that was incorporated into Jeddah's now one year old new waterfront.  But it is a welcome addition and is really quite lovely.

Our World: Colorful Jeddah at Night

Like many cities, Jeddah comes alive at night with bright neon lights and people out and about looking for things to do.  One of the reasons why Jeddah is more alive at night is because of the severe heat, especially in the warmer months. Jeddah's Waterfront along the Corniche is one of the most popular places to hang out in the evenings.

Jeddah Waterfront Sign

In a country where just a few short years ago, a woman riding a bicycle in publc would have been considered scandalous or reason for her to be harassed or detained by the religious police, Saudi Arabia has come a long way in the past couple of years.  Today along Jeddah's Waterfront, women can be seen riding bicycles and jogging, enjoying the weather and enjoying life.

I love this symbol of Jeddah.  And so does everybody else!  And why not?  It's cool!

It has certainly dressed up Jeddah's coastline. I see it as a symbol of change, hope, and pride for the people of Jeddah.

Our World: No Doubt, This is Jeddah!

Jeddah's new attractve waterfront has become a haven for residents to spend relaxing time with their families.  One of the main attractions is the Jeddah sign, which spells out the city's name in larger-than-life turquoise blue letters.

The Red Sea is the sign's backdrop, accented with palm trees.  At night the large letters light up and can be seen from quite a distance.
