SkyWatch: Domed Mall

When the sun is setting, I like to go up on the rooftop of our building and enjoy the breeze, the lights beginning to turn on about the city, and the sunset, of course. With so much wind and dust the past few months, there haven't been many spectacular sunsets at all. This dome-shaped building is actually a large shopping mall in Jeddah styled after the Capitol Building in Washington DC.

More contradictory messages. Sorry about all the dust and wind. That would drive me crazy.

This looks odd (but so much newer building in the Arab world looks odd). Do they do anything inside the dome?

No, Jerry - it's an open area that goes up maybe three floors, so you can be on the lower level and look up and see the inside of the dome. Saudi Arabia probably has more domes than most places because most of the mosques also sport domes, as well as many homes and other buildings.
